Completed and Open
Site
Oppenheimer Park is located in the heart of the Downtown Eastside. It was officially opened in 1898 and has a rich historical and cultural significance within the community. This socially important park is heavily used by locals and visitors 24 hours a day and plays host to numerous recreational events and festivals.
Problem Statement
To engage existing park users in the design of park and facility upgrades that will be inclusive and stimulate positive activities within the park.
Design Solution
We undertook a collaborative design approach involving workshop participants as key providers of the ideas and concepts for the park design. During two public workshops and an open house, all hosted within the park, participants are encouraged to share their ideas, considerations, and feedback to contribute to a clear design intent for the park.
The completed park includes a new activity building (mgb architects), reorganised spaces on site, an upgraded field, new play area, and infrastructure for festivals.
